CSV Import

CSV Import lets you add large numbers of records to brix at once by uploading a spreadsheet file. Instead of adding materials, equipment, or assets one by one, you can prepare your data in a spreadsheet and import it all at once.

Record typeWhere to find the import option
MaterialsClick Materials in the sidebar, then click Import in the top-right of the page
EquipmentsClick Equipments in the sidebar, then click Import in the top-right of the page
AssetsClick Assets in the sidebar, then click Import in the top-right of the page

The steps below use Materials as an example. The same process applies to Equipments and Assets.

  1. Click Materials in the sidebar.

  2. Click Import in the top-right corner of the page.

  3. Download the template file to see the required column format.

  4. Fill in your data in the template spreadsheet using the correct column headers.

  5. Click Upload and select your completed file.

  6. Review the field mapping — confirm that each column from your spreadsheet maps to the correct field in brix.

  7. Choose how to handle duplicates: Ignore duplicates (skip existing records) or Overwrite existing (update records that already exist).

  8. Click Import to start the process.

  9. Wait for the import to finish. The status will update when complete.

StatusMeaning
ProcessingThe import is running. Do not close the page.
SuccessAll records imported successfully.
WarningImport finished but some rows had issues. Check the import log for details.
ErrorOne or more records could not be imported. Review the error log to see which rows failed.

After each import, a record is saved in the import history for that section. Click any past import to view the log, including which rows succeeded and which had errors.

Can I import clients?

Client import is not currently available through CSV Import. Clients must be added individually from the Clients section.

What happens if a column in my spreadsheet doesn’t match the template?

brix will ask you to map your column to the correct field during the import preview step. If a required field is missing, the import will not proceed.

Can I undo an import?

No. Imported records cannot be removed in bulk automatically. Check your data carefully using the template before importing.

Import failed

Open the error log to see which rows had issues. Common causes include missing required columns, incorrect date formats, or duplicate records when overwriting is not selected.

Records are duplicated after import

If you imported with “Ignore duplicates” and records still appear duplicated, the matching field may not match exactly. Check that the field used for matching (such as a name or code) is identical to the existing record.
