Email Identities

An email identity is the sending address brix uses when emailing quotes, documents, and notifications to your customers. Setting a verified identity helps ensure your emails arrive in inboxes rather than spam folders.

You can add an individual email address (such as quotes@yourbusiness.com) or verify your whole domain so that any address from that domain can be used.

Go to ManageSettingsEmail Identities.

  1. Go to ManageSettingsEmail Identities.

  2. Click Add identity.

  3. Choose the type: Email address (a single address) or Domain (your entire email domain).

  4. Enter the email address or domain name you want to use.

  5. Click Save.

After adding an identity, brix sends a confirmation message to the address you entered. You need to confirm ownership before brix can use that address for sending.

For an email address: brix will send a verification email. Open it and click the confirmation link. Once confirmed, the identity shows as Verified in the list.

For a domain: brix will provide a set of records to add to your domain settings. Contact your website or hosting provider for help with this step. Once the records are in place, click Refresh in brix to check the status.

You can view recent emails sent from your brix workspace from the Email History section at the bottom of the Email Identities page. The history shows the date, recipient address, subject, and delivery status of each email sent.

Can I have more than one email identity?

Yes. You can add multiple email addresses or domains and choose which one to use for different notification types. See Notifications to configure which identity each event uses.

What is the difference between an email address and a domain identity?

An email address identity verifies one specific address. A domain identity verifies your whole domain (for example, yourbusiness.com), which means any address at that domain can be used for sending.

Why are my emails still going out from a generic brix address?

Your email identity may not be verified yet. Check the Email Identities list — unverified identities are not used for sending. Complete the verification steps above.

Emails are going to spam

Make sure your email identity is verified. Unverified identities use a generic brix sending address which may be filtered by spam detectors.

Verification email has not arrived

Check the spam folder of the address you entered. The email is sent within a few minutes. If it still hasn’t arrived after 10 minutes, try resending the verification from the Email Identities settings.
