Opportunity Types
What is an opportunity type?
Section titled “What is an opportunity type?”An opportunity type is a label you create to describe a kind of work, for example “Service call”, “New install”, or “Warranty repair”. Each one has a name, a description, and a colour so it stands out at a glance. Opportunity types apply across the whole workspace rather than to one business unit or one book.
You use them for two things: tagging a quote request with the kind of work it is, and sorting which digital forms show up for that work.
Where to find them

Managing your opportunity types
Section titled “Managing your opportunity types”From the list you can:
- Edit a type to change its name, description, or colour.
- Archive a type you no longer use, so it stops appearing in pickers without losing its history on past quote requests and forms.
Statuses
Section titled “Statuses”| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Shows up when tagging a quote request or a form. |
| Archived | Hidden from pickers. Quote requests and forms already tagged with it keep the tag. |
How opportunity types are used
Section titled “How opportunity types are used”On a quote request
Section titled “On a quote request”A quote request can have one opportunity type, and setting it is optional. Set it when you create or edit the quote request, and it shows alongside the technician and due date on the quote request itself. It also decides which forms the Add Form picker offers.
On a digital form
Section titled “On a digital form”A digital form can carry several opportunity types, or none. Both are optional, set in the form’s Form configuration block in the Form Builder.
In the Add Form picker
Section titled “In the Add Form picker”When you click Add Form on a quote request, the picker lists the forms for one opportunity type: every form tagged with that type, plus every form with no opportunity types set.
Where that type comes from depends on the quote request. If it already has an opportunity type, the picker uses it and shows it as fixed, so the form you add matches the work. If it has none, you pick the type yourself. And if your workspace has not created any opportunity types yet, the step is skipped and the picker lists every published form.
See Digital Forms for the rest of the Add Form flow.
What happens next?
Section titled “What happens next?”Setting up your opportunity types is usually a one-time task for an admin, done alongside building out your digital forms library. Once they exist, tagging a quote request or a form with the right opportunity type takes a few seconds, and the Add Form picker does the sorting for you.
Things to check
Section titled “Things to check”Deleting an opportunity type
Deleting an opportunity type removes the tag from anywhere it was used. Quote requests keep working, and any form that had the deleted type stays published. If that was the form’s only tag, it becomes available for every opportunity type. Archiving is usually the safer choice: it hides the type from pickers without touching anything already tagged.
A form is missing from the Add Form picker
Check that the form is Published and either carries the quote request’s opportunity type or has no opportunity types set. See Digital Forms for the full checklist.
